Unit 10 : Volume of Liquid
Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand and use the vocabulary related to volume of liquid.
2. To compare the volume of liquid using non-standard units.
3. To measure the volume of liquid using standard units.
Materials :
- 1. Three similar size glasses
- 2. Two containers of different sizes
- 3. Two similar size cups
- 4. A bottle of orange juice
- 5. Measuring cylinder
- 6. Video clips
- 7. Manila cards
- 8. Cartoon paper clips
Vocabulary :
Empty , Half Full , Full , Less , More , Same amount of
Prosedures :
1. Set induction :
a) Teacher show three glasses filled with orange juice.
b) Invite one student to drink half a glass of orange juice.
c) Invite another student to finish a glass of orange juice.
d) Teacher place the three glasses together to show the volume of the drinks.
e) Teacher asks the student about the volume of the orange juice in the three glasses.
2. Activity:
Introduce the vocabulary according to the glasses and ask student to read loudly.
a) Empty
b) Half full
c) Full
3. Invite students fill the plastic cup according by Empty, Half Full and Empty.
4. Students be quite and watch video clip." Measuring Capacity "
5. Tell students are having group activities now.
6. Divide the class into groups and appoint one student in the group to be the
recorder.
7. Teacher fill same volume of liquid in two different sizes of containers :
Set 1:
Container A
Container B
8. Teacher fill different volume of liquid into two similar sizes of cups.
Set 2:
Glass A
Glass B
9. Teacher gives each group two sets of containers ( Set 1 and Set 2 ).
10. Students compare the volume of liquid .
11. Student measure the volume of liquid in each set by using measuring cylinder.
12. Students have a discussion among their group members and make a conclusion about Set 1 and Set 2.
13. Student record their findings in the following table.
